If you’re just looking for a blue/tealish colored background and something similar to my style… you’ve got a few options there in ATL. But, if a professionally shot, focused, clean, clear, high res, well composed, solid all around image with professional retouch is what you want…then there’s only one way to go! The details and the finer quality does matter. You can always spot a knock off!

A FEW THINGS TO NOTE:

I don’t do “rush” / “speed” sessions! We shoot for an hour give or take. Your hour is YOUR hour and I’m in no hurry to get you out so I can move on to my next client. If you want a cheap, quick, half ass speed session….there are others in ATL that can do that.

You get ALL of your proofs from your session. They’re unedited and compressed, low res images but they’re still yours for reference. You get at total of 3 high res, fully retouched images with your package.

Another thing to consider when getting your headshots is the TYPE of shots you actually want or favor. My look, my style, my lighting may not be for everyone. You may want all natural lighting and a different look. So keep that in mind as well. My style is very specific.

1 HOUR SESSION / 3 LOOKS  

Regarding looks:  I always tell clients to bring more than less when it comes to clothing changes. (tops only.) Sometimes we can move right along and shoot 2, 3, 4, 5 different looks and change things up a bit. It's no biggie for me and I'm not charging by the look really.  We shoot, get what we have to get!  At a minimum though, you'll change 3 times.  (keep in mind,  putting on a jacket, taking a jacket off or something like that doesn't count as a whole new look really!  I'm flexible and it's more about getting what you need and doing it right!  That said, PLEASE DO NOT BRING A SUITCASE FULL OF OPTIONS! If you know you have 4-6 tops/jackets etc that you want to shoot, that’s fine. Just make sure you have the EXACT outfit ready to go. You do not want to try and figure it out and guess what may or may not work while you’re at your session. Pack only what you know is going to work and what you’re going to put on.

MUSIC!

Oh, and did I mention...we play a lot of music during sessions! So make sure to get your playlist prepared and even send it to me prior to your shoot!   Music makes the mood!  It changes everything!  I have premium TIDAL and SPOTIFY accounts and can play just about ANY and EVERYTHING you can think of!  (I'm good with anything from Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, U2, Coldplay, The Cure to Jay-Z, Kanye, Nas, Future, Kendrick Lamar, Fetty, Outkast, Beyoncé, Rihanna to Ed Sheeran, Maroon 5, Bruno Mars, Daft Punk...etc, etc, etc!

MAKE UP for HEADSHOTS!

Hiring a professional makeup artist, like your overall headshot is an investment.   A professional headshot has multiple layers - how your makeup is done is one of them.  Headshot make up is very specific and not the same as beauty or fashion makeup.  When investing in a Christian Webb headshot, you're not just investing in one person....you're investing in a team of professionals dedicated to providing the very best to serve you and your career.

I can't stress enough how important it is to KNOW the difference between a decent or good headshot and a GREAT headshot!  (Oh, and it's not just about using blue for a background!)  It's equally as important to really know the difference between amateur photography and professional photography.  When you're starting off, perhaps you don't know better, perhaps you don't have the money, or perhaps you really don't know why it's important to invest in professional headshots.   Take your time.  Ask around.  Learn.

There are high quality, very professional headshots and then there are lower quality, barely passable headshots.  You have to decide which type you want and where you see your career.   While it's true that it's all subjective,  at the end of the day,  true professionals and qualified industry people know the difference.

AS MOST OF MY WORK REVOLVES AROUND CREATING IMAGES THAT HAVE A FILM/TV FEEL & LOOK,  I PREFER TO SHOOT LANDSCAPE ORIENTATION....AS IF LOOKING AT A TELEVISION SCREEN OR MOVIE SCREEN.  I SOMETIMES HEAR ACTORS CONCERNED WITH WHETHER HEADSHOTS ARE PORTRAIT OR LANDSCAPE ORIENTATION.  I SHOOT BOTH WAYS DURING MY SESSIONS SO AS TO HAVE THE OPTION!    

I UNDERSTAND THAT SOME MARKETS  STILL PREFER SHOTS IN PORTRAIT ORIENTATION.  ALSO, FOR ONLINE GALLERY PURPOSES, THUMBNAIL VERSIONS OR 1:1 SQUARE RATIOS MAY BE PREFERRED. REST ASSURED, MY IMAGES WHEN CROPPED, WORK ABSOLUTELY FINE FOR ALL PURPOSES.  BELOW IS QUICK SAMPLE:

A WORD ABOUT RETOUCHING:

I take my retouching as serious as the actual shoot.  I'm a professional retoucher and my job is to clean up the image but keep my clients looking natural.   A CLEAN, POLISHED, WELL DONE IMAGE SEPARATES THE AVERAGE HEADSHOT FROM THE TRULY PROFESSIONAL and can make a major difference in whether or not it stands out!

ATL ACTORS - "JUST SAY NO" to bad skin retouching and poor color correction!  You can half ass this stuff for but so long.  Let me just say, casting notices this stuff and they KNOW just from looking at your $99 headshot that you do NOT take yourself serious.  It's just bad business people to have a headshot with bad color, inconsistencies in skin tone and over smoothed, blotchiness!
